FLIGHTS TO NASHVILLE (BNA):

In addition to airlines listed in search engines such as Expedia, Orbitz, etc., Southwest Airlines and Frontier Airlines also fly to Nashville.  Southwest  does not charge a change fee when you modify a reservation, and Southwest does not charge baggage fees for the first two checked bags.

AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION:

TAXI:  Costs about $27-30, plus tip (15%).

SHUTTLE:  Grayline Airport Express costs $14 one-way (plus tip).  The shuttle departs from the airport every 15 minutes.  http://graylinetn.com/services/airport-express1

BUS:  The city bus (Nashville MTA, #18: Airport/Elm Hill Pike) departs from the airport about once an hour.  The fare is $2.25. The fare box accepts $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills as well as U.S. coins, including the $1 coin. Drivers do not give change. Change cards will be issued at the fare box for money paid over the fare amount.   ASK THE DRIVER FOR A TRANSFER TICKET when you pay.

The airport bus (#18) takes you to the downtown transit connection center (Music City Central), arriving in Bay 18.

For the Holiday Inn and other West End Avenue hotels, go to Bay 5.  Transfer to bus #3  or #5, and get off at your hotel.

For the Scarritt-Bennett Center, go to Bay 19.  Transfer to bus #7 (Hillsboro), and get off on 21st Avenue South, near the corner of Scarritt Avenue (one block before Edgehill).  Walk east one block to Scarritt-Bennett Center.

TRAVEL TO/FROM OTHER CITIES:

There is no passenger train service to Nashville.  The nearest passenger train (Amtrak) stations are Memphis,  Atlanta, and Birmingham.

Greyhound Bus:  http://www.greyhound.com/  From the Atlanta airport to Nashville, the bus fare is about $60 one-way (less with purchase online).

Megabus:   http://us.megabus.com/  A discount, no-frills, bus service that runs to/from Nashville and Atlanta, Memphis, Chicago, New York, Washington DC, and other cities.  Regular prices are low ($20 one-way Atlanta-Nashville).  Special prices are often ridiculously low ($1 one-way).  The drop-off point in Nashville is not downtown, so you will need to take city buses to reach your hotel or the university.
